Contrary to above mentioned scenario, we celebrate any other day which has got “fun”. By “fun”, I refer to “fun”, “shugal” *winks*. Halloween, valentines’, new year and what not?? Music shows, fun nights, concerts, hang outs and “every thing”. Those who talk about “cultural values” are considered “out dated, conservative, tongue-tied, Paindu”

I was just going through the history of Halloween, please bear with this for a moment,

If it is just a game, there is no harm in that.” In more recent years, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston has organized a “Saint Fest” on the holiday. Similarly, many contemporary Protestant churches view Halloween as a fun event for children, holding events in their churches where children and their parents can dress up, play games, and get candy.

Boring Part over, but a few still remains. Go on, reading please. I was going through early celebrations of this day, found just few pics observing the costumes and may be some concepts in their minds “only” BUT what happens now a days?? The celebrations start with the “sunset” and “fun” begins. If you Google the “Halloween Party” and click on “images” and dare to turn off the “safe search”, you will find the extreme “fun”. Anyways, No Worries –We are still in the early stage of the “fun” – and if the “traditions” are encouraged and “followed” “democratically”. I await the bigger FUN.

You may call me “rigid” and not ready to adapt “inevitable” global changing and interchanging. I’m so Paindu to Dress up “funky”. You may put an allegation that I’m being pessimistic and distrustful but I simply ask you very simple question, when our Nation is in deep aftermaths of “war against terror”, when there are still 7 million people roofless after floods, when there are “daily deaths” due to some “mis-tracked missile” or drone attack, When there’s still a “soft” military operation going on in “some” areas of country. When the “target killing” is an integral part of the news, and when there’s alarming crisis of gas and electricity. When there’s “hot” debate on our “identity” and “ideology” What do we need to adapt?? What do we need to follow?? what do we need to celebrate?? where are we heading to?? What are we getting ready for??

(Note : This Article was written to motivate the newly entered students at Air University in the Newsletter “In The Air” )

Ummm…. Here goes an article, especially written for the 1st semester students. I hope I won’t sound like Nadeem chauhan or Zakir naik here you go *winks*

Benjamin Franklin said: “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”

But with due respect to Mr Franklin I would like to add something . It should have been this way, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and the success that comes to those who really work for it”.

*how’s that?*

Talking about the students in particular, and having a bird eye’s view from a horizon, it seems as if some Anti-motivational intoxication has been freely and widely distributed amongst them. And they are enjoying its ecstasy beyond limits: never to act never to come out *Apologies*

So in the next few lines I’d try to elaborate on how to explore your hidden talents and how to challenge the existing rigid non- practical attitudes.

Before I move on, let me say that most of us are reluctant to start anything or take any initiative. For them , my advice will be, move ahead , leave your fears aside and remember you don’t have to be good enough to start something but you have to start something to be good enough… Believe me, it works.

The first step towards the success is, “know thyself”. You are the finest creation of God who calls you the “Ahsane Taqweem”, the best creation. You are bestowed with the qualities and the capabilities that no other creation has been honored with. So the best creation of God can’t even manage to pass the first semester? lol. ( well it happens often ). This phase is often termed as “Self Assessment”. Whatever your dreams may be and whatever you want to achieve, it is important to analyze the reasons for those things. The reasons for what you want to achieve are your “why.” Your why is intimately tied to your purpose in life.

The second step is to “define priorities”. If you are a university’s student then you might have been entered into the 4- year degree programme. But understand the time when you have come here. It’s the time when your energies are very high and most of you would say “good bye” to your teen-days and hit the boundaries of maturity. So, these four years are equally important for you career, your intellectual growth and your social and moral responsibilities. I don’t agree with the approach that you can’t be the “all”(everything) at one time. Work on the principles and try to know something about everything and everything about something. The latter ‘something could be your degree or your major. If you doubt your ability to achieve or accomplish something, chances are you will not be able to achieve much, no matter how hard you try. There is something to be said about the power your mind yields on the results you achieve in life.

The battle is not won or lost based on circumstances or fate; the battle is won or lost in the mind.

The third step is “take an action”. Overcome your fears. I was once told by my teacher at academy, “. Ali, You see, it’s not what’s on you that is important, it’s what’s ‘in you”.( He always knew I was a genius *self glorification*lalala) Now you may come up with an argument that you don’t get enough time in this *beep* semester system. Too much assignments and quizzes are mind bugging etc but trust me, you can always manage to do something. Rene Godefroy, an award-winning author writes “You will never have enough money, enough time, enough support, or experience to start. But once you muster up the courage to take that giant step forward and start, the rest will fall into place. But only YOU can make it happen! Start NOW with whatever you know, whatever you have, and wherever you are.” So… “Shabaash”… kaam karo?

The fourth step and the most important step is, O Bhai!!! stay “consistent”. Sometimes you’ll say “ kya hai yarrrrr….. I can’t do it anymore” or make similar utterances and that could be a disaster for your success. Never give up. It happens at times that you feel like leaving every burden and going off to some peaceful place ( I am not talking about taking admission in Iqra or Hamdard.. no offence please ) but trust me if you are consistent and motivated , every trouble and trouble makers would soon admit your victory. Giving you an example of Sha’oor Society, when I was laying down its foundations, everybody was like “ O bhai… damagh set hai ?? wadda… shokha… nobody would support or encourage you “ but see .. We did it and today the name of Air University is visible on the campus of International Islamic University which is another milestone achieved by our society and within a year we are the largest society with the most active student body in and outside the campus.

The above were the four basic steps that I follow. I hope to continue on this in the next writing if you welcome the thought.

You know, history is replete with people who were short, tall, ugly, and even disabled but who shattered the ceiling of doubts and limitations to change the world for the better. You’ll see that people will get jealous of you and criticize you for nothing but let me tell you, never pay any heed to them. Be polite to them, respect their views but keep on working. Jealousy is a symptom of a severe case of low self-esteem, and it’s a disease that can eat us alive. That’s why jealous people are often angry no matter how well you perform.

In the end, I’d wish you a good luck. Believe me, you have come to the right place and you are here at the right time. Start working from today. Challenge the limits today and you will see the glory of success very soon, Good luck. Chill karo.

In 1971, the Chairperson of the PPP, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, refused to acknowledge the mandate of the people of East Pakistan and prevented a democratically elected government from functioning. Notwithstanding the mess that our “great” army had left us with, it was the PPP Chairperson who had adorned complete dictatorial stature and threatened to break legs of anyone who would attend the assembly inauguration session in Dhaka. Bangladeshis resisted and eventually took up arms and fought for independence. Pakistan had lost its most populous province and split into two.

Today, another PPP Chairperson has engineered a verdict that refuses to give the democratically elected government its right to function. Zardari is doing exactly what Bhutto had done in 1971 – eliminating all challenges that may come in his way to become another “Civilian Martial Law Administrator”. It was Sheikh Mujeeb, the rightfully elected leader of Pakistan, who was the biggest challenge to Bhutto’s throne. For Zardari, it is the rightful Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, who will not only revoke the NRO but also put an end to the stretches of today’s corruption.

Similarly just as Yahya Khan had called on the services of the army under the leadership of General Niazi to supress the resistance, the rangers have been put on the command of Musharraf’s right hand, Salman Taseer.

This is not to suggest that the other parties are angels. Far from it. How can we forget our own history. PML-N had been dictatorial in its term from 1997-1999, MQM still terrorizes people of urban Sindh and JI still promotes religious hatred and bigotism. However none of them one can match PPP when it adopts dictatorial attitudes in the hide of being democratic.

Let’s hope another seperation movement does not start and Zardari is democratically removed before Pakistan splits into two yet again.

If you supported Musharraf you are responsible for what is wrong in Pakistan today:

1) You supported Musharraf
2) Musharraf gave NRO
3) NRO gave Zardari
4) Zardari causing instability.

If only you had supported the lawyers:
1) Judges still functioning.
2) NRO declared unconstitutional
3) Zardari, Musharraf behind bars.
4) Pakistan stable.

Israeli terrorism has massacred more than 800 hundred Palestinians including 100’s of infants and women that has raised an atmosphere of rage and anger against Israel worldwide especially in Muslim community. In the days following the ceasefire, the BBC reported that more than 400,000 Gazans were left without running water. The BBC further reported that 4000 homes had been ruined, leaving tens of thousands of people homeless.

It’s the matter of fact that 1.25 to 1.84 billion Muslims are unable to protect their old sacred countries and believes… World super powers are simply ignoring or doing nothing but just passing the “Friendly Resolutions” that have no impact on Israeli leaders.

I wonder how such a small country with a small population could be an “indifferent” to world and its attitude. Yet it is not abstract philosophical problem to understand.

Let us analyze some important factors here.

America’s unconditional economic and moral support and patronage is not the only factor which is making Israel strong but the attitude and ignorance of Muslim Ummah and leaders is another major push to strengthen Israel.

The attitude of Pakistani government has been pathetic and shameful during this Genocide of Palestinians though we did pass some formal “Official Statements” and our people raised some voices in different cities. But at the same time our so called democratic government was busy in bestowing the Americans with highest civil honors against the Nation’s sentiments probably for their efforts in removing general Musharraf and bringing PPP into the game, as PM Gillani said. Or for U.S. diplomat’s part in negotiating with Pakistani military to allow Zardari to become president, wash his criminal record and –most importantly- ensure that he receives millions of dollars in unexplained wealth deposited in bank accounts abroad.

Irrespective of the hilariously shameful attitude of Muslim leaders, the world seems afraid of Israel as it is answerable to none and it proves him right when a former Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, says:

‘Israel may have the right to put others on trial, but certainly no one has the right to put the Jewish people and the State of Israel on trial.’

And Prime Minister Golda Meir betrayed the same Zionist arrogance:

‘This country exists as the fulfillment of a promise made by God Himself. It would be ridiculous to ask it to account for its legitimacy.’

Former Israel Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, said in an uncensored version of his memoirs, published in the New York Times on 23 October 23rd, 1979:

‘We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. Allon repeated his question ~ What is to be done with the Palestinian population?’ Ben-Gurion waved his hand in a gesture which said “Drive them out!’

We will have to identify the source of such a pride and power. America, the “Harbinger” of Peace has always been supporting Israel no matter what it does to Palestinians or to the rest of Muslim world. US always had a dual and hypocritical policy towards those countries where it seeks its benefits. And if we observe it is the US that has made Israel such an unstoppable monster.

Let us observe how come Israel has become this much stronger.

According to 2007 figures, the United States government gave more than $6.8 million to wealthy Israel every day while to the desperate and devastated Palestinians of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank they gave just $300,000.

US military ‘aid’ to Israel increased by more than a quarter to an average $3 billion a year in 2007 – a figure guaranteed for ten years. This and other support makes Israel the biggest recipient of United States foreign military funding since the Second World War.

The United States is also Israel’s biggest supplier of fighter planes, weapons and other military technology. As a result, Israel has the world’s largest F-16 fleet outside the US Air Force. In their book, The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt wrote:

‘Since the October War in 1973, Washington has provided Israel with a level of support dwarfing the amounts provided to any other state. It has been the largest annual recipient of direct U.S. economic and military assistance since 1976 and the largest total recipient since World War ll. Total direct U.S. aid to Israel amounts to well over $140 billion in 2003 dollars.

Israel receives about $3 billion in direct foreign assistance each year, which is roughly one-fifth of America’s entire foreign aid budget. In per capita terms, the United States gives each Israeli a direct subsidy worth about $500 per year. This largesse is especially striking when one realizes that Israel is now a wealthy industrial state with a per capita income roughly equal to South Korea or Spain.’

Imagine if Iran or anyone else outside Israel and the United States was doing what the Israeli military is doing in Gaza. There would be global condemnation, not least from Israel and the United States, resolutions passed in the UN Security Council fiercely attacking the country involved and talk of the need for sanctions or military intervention to ‘save the innocent’.
One writer recently described conditions in Gaza:

‘ … Israel nails shut the coffin that is Gaza under a siege that has lasted nearly three years, steadily intensifying so that malnutrition rates rival those of sub-Saharan Africa, sewage runs raw in the streets and pollutes the ocean, homes are still being bulldozed to super-add collective punishment upon collective punishment; men, women and children are still being sniped at and killed; children are deafened by continuing sonic booms, the vast majority of them suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome, and many of that majority have no ambition other than becoming “martyrs” …’

In addition for your information, A sonic boom is the thunder-like noise resembling an aerial bomb a person on the ground hears when an aircraft flies overhead faster than the speed of sound. Sonic booms are measured in pounds per square foot of overpressure. Overpressure over 2 to 5 pounds can likely cause structural damage, like broken windows. The low-flying Israeli war planes have done just that in Gaza in recent weeks. If over-flights are low enough it is conceivable for damage to be done to the eardrums of infants.

And it’s a whole lot worse now.

How can anyone inflict such a lack of mercy on an entire people? The question can only be answered when we understand that Zionist extremists really do believe they are God’s Chosen People and that therefore the Palestinians are little more than cattle.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, then Israeli Foreign Minister, confirmed in 1998 what the plan really was for the Palestinians:

‘It is the duty of Israeli leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously, a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonization, or Jewish State without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands.’

‘Mr. Change’ has come to ‘power’ now. Barrack Obama has packed his ‘new’ administration with Zionists like Rahm Emanuel, his White House Chief of Staff.

Emanuel’s father, Benjamin, is a Zionist extremist who was a member of the Irgun terrorist group in Palestine and we can clearly expect the Obama administration to be balanced and fair on its Israel/Palestinian policy. No wonder Obama has kept quiet on the Israeli bombing of Gaza.

Obama speaks out on Gaza crisis:

‘Hey, I got nothin’ to say, I got the chance of a par here … ask my Chief of Staff, he’s a rabid Zionist and his dad helped bomb Israel into existence. He’ll know what’s goin’ on.’

The Obama government is going to be slavishly pro-Israel because he needed the sanction of the truly massive Zionist lobby in the United States to secure the presidency. His vice-president, Joe Biden, is a long-time bag-carrier for Israel. He said on Israeli television:

‘I am a Zionist ~ you don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist’.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is another Israel puppet who pledged to ‘obliterate’ Iran if it launched a nuclear attack on God’s chosen country.

Would she say she would obliterate Israel if it launched a nuclear attack on Iran? No way. In such a time of crisis there is need of Ummah’s renaissance of unity. Either we should wake up and start recognizing our friends or enemies or we would wipe away altogether.

May Allah give Hidaya to whole humanity and make our word a better place to live in. Amen.
