• An Obligation & Two Honest People

There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists tried. The king looked at all the pictures. But there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them.

• A Woman’s Importance

A nice story about the importance of a woman… Why are you crying, a young boy asked his Mom? “Because I’m a woman,” she told him.

“I don’t understand,” he said.

His Mom just hugged him and said, “And you never will, but that’s O.K.”…….

Later the little boy asked his father, “Why does Mom seem to cry for no reason?”. “All women cry for no reason,” was all his Dad could say……

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God and when God got back to him, he asked “God, why do women cry so easily?”

GOD answered…. .. “When I made woman, I decided she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet, made her arms gentle enough to give comfort… ! I gave her the inner strength, to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times will come even from her own children. I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going and take care of her family and friends, even when everyone else gives up, through sickness and fatigue without complaining. … I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances. Even when her child has hurt her badly…. She has the very special power to make a child’s boo-boo feel better and to quell a teenager’s anxieties and fears…. I gave her strength to care for her husband, despite faults and I fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart…. I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her?™s strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly. … For all of this hard work, I also gave her a tear to shed. It is hers to use whenever needed and it is her only weakness…. When you see her cry, tell her how much you love her, and all she does for everyone, and even though she may still cry, you will have made her heart feel good. She is special!

There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God.

He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with cupcakes, several cans of root beer and started on his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he saw an elderly woman. She was sitting on a park bench watching the pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed the lady looked hungry so he offered her a cupcake. She gratefully accepted and smiled at him.

Her smile was so wonderful that he wanted to see it again, so he offered a root beer as well. Once again she smiled at him. The boy was delighted!

They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling without saying a word.

As it began to grow dark, the boy realized how tired he was and wanted to go home. He got up to leave but before he had gone no more than a few steps, he turned around and ran back to the old woman, giving her a big hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy arrived home his Mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked, “What has made you so happy today?” He replied, “I had lunch with God.” Before his mother could respond he added, “You know what? She’s got the most beautiful smile in the whole world!”

Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face. He asked, “Mother, what has made you so happy today?” She replied, “I ate cupcakes in the park with God.” And before her son could reply, she added, “You know, he is much younger than I expected.”

ECP Voter Verification Door-to-Door Drive: 22nd Aug till 30th Oct 2011.

One of the main reasons of the low voter turnout in the 2007 General Elections was due to the inefficient voting registration mechanism by the Election Commission of Pakistan. They also failed to provide assistance in voter registration which played a huge role in the low voter turnout last time. So instead of relying on a bunch of tea sipping lazy bums, you can spread the word yourself online and get people aware and at the ballot box on Vote Day. Don’t let these crooks fool you anymore. It doesn’t matter where you are in Pakistan or in the world, you can get your vote registered and it’s simple!

TO REGISTER

1. You must be over the age of 18
2. You must have a National Identity Card (NIC) issued by NADRA

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Go to your nearest Office of Assistant Election Commissioner / Registration Officer located in your area. If you do NOT know where your closest office is located, you can find out by contacting the Election Commission of Pakistan at             (051) 920 1975       or             (051) 920 6062       and asking them the address and phone number of the closest office to you. You can also contact 1217 to get the same information or log onto http://www.ecp.gov.pk/Contactus.aspx.

Once at the office, collect a “Voter Registration Form” and fill it out in full. Basic information will be required as well as a Photocopy of National Identity Card as well as Proof of Residence – this includes any kind of utility bill (electricity, gas, water or telephone). Once complete, submit the form and you’re DONE!

More than one person can get registered on one form so remember to bring your family and friends. Get everyone registered and make your voices heard!

PLEASE NOTE: Your vote will be registered to the address written on the National Identity Card. For example if you are registering in Karachi and your home address is in Lahore, you will have to vote in Lahore.

For Overseas Pakistani’s

Overseas Pakistanis are allowed to be registered by their family, friends or relatives who live in the area of your residence in Pakistan. The process is simple roughly the same however please note! Any Citizen of Pakistan can get registered as voter anywhere in Pakistan and can cast their vote if he or she is in Pakistan during the time of elections. You must be IN PAKISTAN to cast your vote!

AFTER REGISTRATION

After you have submitted your registration form, in a few days confirm to make sure YOU ARE ON THE VOTER LIST! This can be done by many ways.

You can obtain the “Voter List” from the Assistant Election Commissioner/Registration Officer. Check to see whether your name is on the list.

You will also be able to see the “Voter List” on the Election Commission’s website, but it’s currently unavailable (what a surprise)

Once you have confirmed you are registered, you will be able to vote in the Federal and Provincial elections anytime

Get your vote registered as soon as possible and play a vital part in shaping a better future for Pakistan.

A Muslim’s primary concern before choosing friends should be to seek the Pleasure of Allah in the friendship. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said, ‘Whoever loves for Allah, and hates for Allah, gives for Allah and withholds for Allah, has completed his faith.’ [Abu Dawood]

Friendship that is based upon the sincere purpose of seeking Allah’s Pleasure brings about the love of Allah for the slave. Abu Hurayrah (radhi allahu anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa-sallam) said, ‘A man went to visit a brother of his in another village. Allah sent an Angel to wait for him on the road. When the man came, the Angel asked him, ‘Where do you intend to go?’ He said, ‘I am going to visit a brother of mine who lives in this village.’ The Angel asked, ‘Have you done him any favor (for which you are now seeking repayment)?’ He said, ‘No, I just love him for the sake of Allah.’ The Angel told him, ‘I am a messenger to you from Allah, sent to tell you that He (Allah) loves you as you love your brother for His sake.’ [Saheeh Muslim]

From the benefits of such a virtuous friendship is that on the Day of Judgment, when, ‘…the sky will be like the boiling filth of oil (or molten lead, etc.) and the mountains will be like flakes of wool. And no friend will ask of a friend.’ [(70): 8-10] ‘That day shall a man flee from his brother. And from his mother and his father, and from his wife and children.’ [(81): 34-37] ‘Allah, the Exalted, will declare on the Day of Resurrection, ‘Where are those who loved each other for the sake of My Grace? If you read the front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle on Thursday, Dec 15, 2005, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines.
The fifty-foot whale was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her tail, her torso and a line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallone Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her – a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around – she thanked them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.

The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.
